...the local bank has eschewed the ubiquitous messenger bags, back packs and auto tool kits as a gift for opening a free checking account with a bag of red chile.

I couldn't make this stuff up. My wife and I were doing our annual super-cleaning of the 'fridge and discovered this bag. Interestingly, neither of us have an account with them, so it's origin is mysterious...

You know you are in NM when the radio announces it will talk about trading and they begin giving various crop and livestock prices, NOT the how well (or not) the NASDAC & NYSE are doing.

You know you are in NM when people stop using their turn signals!!!

When you can have a chicken fried steak at The Hill Diner! (Los Alamos)

When the elementary school doesn't have a school lunch program.

When you define your travel route as the main road or the truck route

When you call the local bar "The Stink & Drink"

When happy hour is held at the VFW and you attend regularly Even though you have never served in the military.

When the closest Wal-Mart is 10 miles away.

When the best thing you have seen all day is the sign at the Colorado boarder.

I'm assuming you mean the "Welcome to New Mexico" sign.

(not the "Now leaving New Mexico" sign)
