I tried to get a cherry Dr Pepper many, many, many moons ago in Portales with no luck. I had every worker at the Tastee-Freeze looking at me like I'd lost my mind. I even explained how to make it but to no avail... I figured it was just a TX Dairy Queen thing.
you Know You're In New Mexico When Someone Relates Directions In Terms Of Nearest Lotaburgers. Ie: "i'm In The Apartments Two Streets North Of The Lotaburger At Eubank And Osuna." Or: "head South On Menaul Until You See The Lotaburger, Then Take Your Second Right. Oh, And While You're There, Could You Pick Me Up A Double Meat Lota-combo With Cheese And Green Chile, Fries And A Cherry Dr. Pepper.".
Well the whole trick with Lotaburger is you can have cherry-anything because they actually add cherry syrup to your soft drink, soda fountain style! It's as ridiculously sweet as it sounds and flies in the face of the 'no-carbs' crowd. 'Course I get mine diet to knock a few carbs off after ordering that double cheeseburger
Yeah, Sonic does it that way too :-) I get mine diet as well, not 'cause i'm worried about my weight (life's too short to count calories, lol!) but because i've always prefered diet drinks.
So.... how many of these Lotaburgers am I going to encounter in Alamo and Alb?

You'll have one Lotaburger in Alamo on White Sands.
Unfortunately, it varies from really good to terrible, and you never know which kind you're going to get.
I have reached the point where I just make mine at home.
Blake's Lotaburger. Fast food places all over New Mexico.
They have regular fast-food stuff, but many New Mexicans LOVE their green chile cheeseburgers. (Last time I was there two weeks ago, the green chile was VERY HOT!)
The service varies from good to poor, often poor.
But I go there for the green chile cheeseburgers, and I find it worth the wait.
They have a breakfast menu too, but I have not tried their breakfast burritoes yet.
