Thanks again! I will look into las cruces as well. Do most people fly in to El Paso then and drive in to Las Cruces? What types of things would you drive to El Paso for that Las Cruces doesn't have?

As for Santa Fe, I am speaking of rent! As for home prices I haven't even started looking. When I poked around on Craig's list I saw that it was pretty much the same prices for apartments. And when I have visited a few times I didn't think I was paying any more or less for things like groceries or gas at the time. I don't have any other data than that.

Oops! Missed the last post. I am use to 90's here in the summer and heat is fine for me, however, I will admit when it comes to the cold I will need to ease in! So, I was hoping to find somewhere that wouldn't be to crazy with snow. I was in Santa Fe 2 years ago and there was a huge snow storm that shut the city down almost ( everyone there said that rarely happens) and it was beautiful! I was frozen but understand that I will get use to it and with time not have to wear 3 layers of clothing!

I also would say go with Las Cruces. It's got ideal weather, the Organ mountains, and a lush valley.

If you are looking for a lot to do, I think Santa Fe is your place. Smaller than ABQ, but with almost as much to do. From opera to great live music and museums. Culturally much more diverse than ABQ or LC. Cost of housing is high, but with some looking you can find some gems. Don't just go to craigslist. Try the classifieds in the New Mexican's website.

The weather is colder, but it's part of what makes SF unique. There is nothing more beautiful than strolling down the road before Christmas with the farolitos burning and a light snow falling. It is magical.

Thanks for the link! I will have to make a trip to Las Cruces and explore a bit. I haven't visited or heard much about it before this and the site looks like it is full of info.

I agree that Santa Fe is magical! It is one place I always look to return to regardless of the time of year. Ultimately, it will come down to the schools, who's hiring and the pay. Will have to see which area has more secondary schools too!

Hoping to find the right town that I can be busy exploring or not!

Thanks everyone!

Las Cruces Has Three High School and is soon building another...Then there is Gadsden High School, Santa Teresa High, and Hatch High also in the Dona Ana County...

So that is six High schools...then you have Canutillo and El Paso Schools to add if you are willing to drive some.

Santa Fe has two public High Schools and a few private schools.

Default Los Lunas

I'd say Los Lunas. I moved out of ABQ and 20 min south of the city is Los Lunas, easy commute to the airport and the city activities, but quiet and plenty of ammenities in Los Lunas. Night life....not much, but ABQ is close! We have lots of relocated SoCal folks here in town!
