The youth today do not need the news, or even watch it, for that matter. Dozens of viral websites cater to the criminal element, posting detailed "how-to videos" to the criminal youth. I just googled "lock picking" and found dozens of websites and videos, all for "information purposes only".

Grim thought for the morning. Maybe if we started televising (dead at 7) the hanging of more of these thieves the news rating would rise and the crime level would drop.

When I lived here before, KRQE televised a "family friendly" evening news so people could watch it at dinnertime with the kids around. When I moved back, I noticed it no longer did that. Guess the ratings did not jump up with people scrambling to watch a violence free newscast. They will sell it if we will buy it.

I don't mind the little wake up calls that show us regular people that any bonehead with free time and a garage door opener can drive around and open our garage doors, or that someone walking through a parking lot or around your block can go up and open an unlocked door. Anyone ever see the show with the two guys that used to burglarize homes where they show a family how easily they can break into their home and then help them do the security upgrades? Scary but helps keep you aware of the little things you should do to keep safe.
