Not much out there when i went as it's mainly the Oil producing wells out there. There is the Zia Horsetrack and Casino but not sure what else is there. Hopefully someone from there will post.

Black Gold Casino - Zia Park Racetrack (http://www.blackgoldcasino.net/page.cfm?content=7 - broken link)

Default Things To Do....Places To See....

I was talking on the phone with my son last night and discussing the same thing. He hasn't had much time to see the sights in Hobbs, but was telling me some of the places he would like to visit. East to city of Hobbs. Confederate Air Force Museum, Lea County Cowboy Hall of Fame Museum, Harry McAdams Park, Hobbs Industrial Airpark, Lea County Heritage Center-Linam Ranch Museum, Hobbs National Soaring Foundation Championships, Ocotillo Golf Course (public). At Christmas time they have Christmas in the Desert. Downtown Hobbs seems to have really nice attractions. They had a custom car show. Of course my son fell in love with Hobbs because the people are so friendly and it wouldn't be hard at all to find out what's going on. He also was telling me about a web site that he would like to try this trip. It's a road trip from Carlsbad NM to Roswell NM and Hobbs is included. Web site: New Mexico Road Map Travel Guide United States #285.

Thank you to all respondents...still trying to reach Hobbs sometime hopefully this year. I've also heard many times either there's not much out there/there's nothing there but the casino & horse track!!

Talk to y'all once I've been there,

fallguy

Imagination, personality, gratefulness, friendliness. The one son found this in Hobbs NM; who lived most all of his life in Naples Fl. As much as he would like in time to attend Texas Tech University in Lubbock, he told me that he would have a tear in his eye and a lump in his throat when he would leave Hobbs. Alot different leaving Florida when he wanted to push that Grayhound bus across the state line to Mobile Al.. My "Country Boy" that was news to me and not bad at all.
