Color me corrected. There you go, all the more reason to be legal and safe. Not to mention you could be sued some day if your unpermitted work hurts someone. (same is true for your permitted work, but your case in court will be much stronger if you had a permit and inspection than if you did not.)

Areas near me the cops are also calling the bldg dept if they see work going on. I'm hearing of guys in my trade (hvac) that are getting nailed for water heater replacements and having to pull off and that NEVER used to happen in the past. They are hurting for permit cash.
