I seem to recall some similar hysteria in the mid-80's regarding the Japanese taking over. When they said that the real estate in Ginza (Tokyo's best spot) was worth as much as the entire state of California, I think they should've made the trade.

The Japanese didn't take over, and even though their auto brands have taken over, your Toyota is as likely to be made in Texas as it is in Toyota City.

So, to sum up, people freezing, bad. Foreign hysteria, bad.

Default off topic

The gov't definitely encourages having children, as most gov'ts do. A $1000 tax credit per child is nothing to sneeze at.

If they wanted to discourage having children, they would have created a yearly tax of $1000 per child.

Sounds like a plan. So we have 2 possible uses for too many children.

1) Stack them together like wood, for more heat.

2) Send them out in the wilderness so animals have enough food.

This is certainly one of the silliest threads I have come across in some time. Only in NM where there tend to be some odd folks??
