This was in the ABQ Journal paper today about how New Mexico is still growing in the econimy when the rest of the nation is slowed down.
While housing is down the commercial sector is booming especially all the new school construction as over $1 billion is going on currently. It also mentioned Health Care sectors, Indian Casinos, Call Centers, Information and Film Production sectors are all hiring.
It mentioned New Mexico unemployment rate at 3.9% and Albuquerquer at 3.9%.
I don't know if this means they will be closing up shop in ABQ, or if they're just cutting back. I'm curious if there've been any local news stories on this...?
Either way, I don't think it'll have a big impact on ABQ's job market, but I was surprised to see them packing up so soon.

Eclipse has really burned Albquerque. They took in a ton of taxpayer welfare dollars from the city. Mayor Chavez's pet project sure did turn out bad for all those that were employed by eclipse.

Yeap i know about that and also about Tesla Motors backed out of coming to ABQ if i'm correct on that.
I agree that OIL and GAS is creating lots jobs here along with the new $2 billion Nuclear Storage Plant in Eunice.
This just off the New Mexico Business Weekly a story about Gary Tonjes who is the Executive Director of economic development for Albuquerque who was the featured speaker at Sandia Casino talking about all the companies looking at ABQ to relocate during his quarterly lunch presentation today.
Glad to see NM still doing good! At least were not like Nevada.. Yikes!..
But Albuquerque is also doin pretty well despite the downturn, housing is not as great but there still building and sellin
