Can you actually buy it there or do you have to make a trip somewhere for it
That crossed my mind, must be a precious comodity in that part of NM, if not the whole state! LOL
Just recently learned that Guinness uses a special 'gypsum water'? Besides other Guinness owned ingredients.
And here {there} we have the whole of White Sands- gypsum {and water under it} Just think of it! LOLOLOL
Have you found Any New Mexico brews to match or you like alot? Anyone else?
I buy it at the oasis, the local liquor store. It is imported from Dublin. The Eklund has the Canadian stuff.
I mainly drink the Guinnnes Draught which no other microbrews match on tap.
I also drink the Stout
which there are some comparable homebrews but none of them are "spot on" IMHO but very drinkable.
Was in the Isotopes bar 4 years ago and they said they had a taste test and their Stout got voted better than Guinness Stout.
*Now* my problem was they were doing their home Stout vs Guinness Draught which is like doing an Apple vs Oranges taste test. I tried to explain it to the Bargirl but my explanations were lost on her :S
You brew your own Stout Brian?! Oh my gosh!
I really am impressed, very cool!
I think when you moved to NM, they decided to carry Guinness
too, LOL
You know Brian, in Japan they have home delivery of beers
Some nice varieties there, I don't drink much beer, but like Japanese beers and Guinness- Ice Cold tho those rare occasions
They have (or had when I lived in Ireland) beer delivery too. Dial-a-Can
My Grandad (mams side) and Great Grandad (dads side) both brewed for Guinness so brewing is in my blood, as well as the physical Guinness :P
I have changed my Liquor store for sure. They are getting 5 new beers cause of me. They actually used to carry all the "big 3" beers when I came here and nada else, they had one shelve dedicated to different beers and now its an actual fridge.

LOL in your blood, I'd say so with that history
But please tell me, you've been 'americanized', you know- on the *warm* beer/stout thing, LOL
I know I know....it taste 'real' and better- flavorful, warm LOL
But you did say they've gotten more in and refrigeration since you arrive! hehehe
Does NM have gallons per year etc, restriction on home brewers?
I love my beer cold but I do have a rule.
If you cannot enjoy a beer warm it is not a good beer.
Guinness is served in two taps back home. The Regular (almost room temp) and the "Extra Cold" tap. Either way I just want a Guinness so which ever tap is closer please
I was told it was 100 gallons of beer limit on home brew.
But then again I know for a fact that Home Brew is not regulated in New Mexico. Only alcohol for sale is regulated. You obviously cannot distill and whatnot, and if I gave it to a kid I would be screwed etc but they dont regulate Home Brew here in NM. I spoke to the Tobacco Alcohol and Firearms people when I put on the homebrew and it got to the point where she basically told me you can do what you want, just dont sell it hehe. Thats my understanding anyway. Beertown-Homebrewing
