Although we havent had much moisture in the center of New Mexico this Winter the last few days have been Beautiful and in the 60s but soon the below zero temps and snow are coming. el pintada kid
Pintada - Try using Google Street View, I just took a "ride" fron Kingston into the mountains along Rt 152. The imagery was taken in a snow storm. Really cool.
The thing I most notice abour New Mexican small towns is how spread out they seem to be and how wide and straight the streets are. We have a couple of roads here in Londonderry that have just under 24 ft of pavement and are lined with 2 ft dia oak trees instead of a shoulder.

That is a great drive going over to Silver City as those mountains are just awesome. Lots of campgrounds galore along the way and when you get close to Silver City you'll see the ''Kneeling Nun''
I call that road over the mountains from Hillsboro into Bayard the Black Range Road and if you have plenty of time and not pulling a Trailer its a nice road to take if your not Scared of Heights and squeeling tires at 15 mph on the curves that are everywhere. el pintada kid
It's my first winter in NM. Days have been mild and cool but not cold. Nights get below zero.
I've been thinking though what nice mild weather we have here now and it's the middle of Jan.
