I lived here in 70-72 and just moved back last October. FWIW, I don't remember
it being as hot, either, but the last time I was here I was also 40 years younger..
Our swamp coolers seem to work reasonably well and we haven't had to use
them more than a couple times in the last week or so. My office space is in
a large, sun room type addition and despite having hundreds of square feet of
opening windows, ceiling fans and good cross ventilation, I have been using
the refrigerated a/c out here fairly often.
