Photo attached. Found this one outside in west-central NM at the 6900 ft. elev. His body is an inch long, he's soft black (not shiny) and has no visable markings. Found a smaller one on my bed!

If you found a smaller one on your bed, there may be more.

actually it looks like the basic whatever spider which we see all the time, both in NM and here. I doubt it is anything to worry about..

I think it's a wolf spider as well, or at least a variant.
A friend of mine, a serious bug person, tells me that there is rarely a time in your life when you're more than 5 feet from a spider. My wife didn't like hearing that....

I don't know a whole lot about spider identification but we found one exactly like that on Sunday! And..that was the concensus everyone came to: Wolf Spider. Sooo..must be their time of year. Amazing looking creature upclose, thats for sure! ALSO!..side note...had my very first run in with a coach-whip snake today! What incredible creatures we have here in NM!

Wolf spiders are pretty harmless. They eat lots of bugs. I am not a spider fan but I would restrain myself from reaching for the raid.

Ewww, I don't like hearing that either.

I only reach for the Raid if I find a spider indoors, but I make someone else do the dirty deed.
