Hello, my husband and I are contemplating moving to Harvey for a really good job. Please tell us all that you know about this area. We will move near Lacopa Blvd. What kin of area is this, does it have alot of crime, is it nice to look at, what ever you can tell me would be great!

I think you meant Lapalco Blvd. ... there are some very nice areas close to there- it depends on your budget- Stonebridge, Barkley Estates, Plantation Estates, Timberlane are all upscale neighborhoods in that general area- but depending on your preferences, you can live most anywhere in the area- New Orleans is very compact.

Around 250,000 people live over there. It's got some nice areas, and some bad areas.

Default Harvey

Move to the east bank, the west bank including Harvey is prone to flooding and is very racially polarized, gangs abound. if you buy you will not be able to sell. Yes there are a lot of people there but a lot of people bought Edsels and Saturns too. Don't follow the crowd. Look to east Jefferson near Ochsner Hosp.

That's an overpriced, crappy neighborhood.

... well, in harvey.... you won't have to dodge bullets all day.

And if you don't move to the westbank then definitely stay in Jefferson Parish.

Harvey is like everywhere else in nola - you will have very nice neighborhoods next to very poor neighborhoods, so you definition of what looks nice may need to change. I don't know exactly where along Lapalco you are looking, but Harvey is a narrow town, with Marrero to the west and Gretna to the east, so don't limit your search to Harvey.

Depending on your budget, you can get into some very nice upscale subdivisions or some quaint older communities. Is the job to the east or west of the Harvey canal?
