So,
Weekend after next we're having my brother's bachelor party weekend in New Orleans and I was wondering if I could get some suggestions on activities that might be interesting, specifically those that are unique to area rather than just the same old strippers, get hammered, rinse, repeat, etc.

I've never been so that's why I'm looking for ideas, thanks!

Spend one night on Bourbon. If you're interested in the gentlemen's clubs Ricks and Penthouse are the classiest of the bunch. Everything else is hit and miss.

Spend one night on Frenchmen for the music. The first two blocks closest to the river is where everything is. Most of the music clubs have covers. DBA and Blue Nile are good bets and should have something for everybody, Snug Harbor for Jazz if that's your thing. You can pretty much just walk down the street and if you hear something you like, pay the cover and head in.

Spend another night outside of the Quarter. Catch a band at Tipitina's, Le Bon Ton Roule, Howlin Wolf, Maple Leaf, Carrollton Station, etc. You can see a list of venues and who's playing at WWOZ New Orleans 90.7 FM : New Orleans' Jazz & Heritage Station : Dedicated to Bringing New Orleans Music to the Universe. Try to catch one of the brass bands if at all possible. You can't hear it anywhere else. They're all good, but Rebirth is the most well known.

During the day spend some time on Magazine St uptown. Plenty of bars/shops/restaurants/architecture and very walkable. The bus is pretty frequent. You can catch it downtown and it runs the full length of Magazine. If you're into beer, the Avenue Pub on St. Charles is the best craft beer bar in NOLA.
