My husband and I are considering relocating our family to New Orleans. We are both nurses. Is there a need for nurses in the area. I am assuming there is.

I think we will. I've lived in New Orleans in the past and I love the place. I cried for weeks after Katrina. Up until now I couldn't see us relocating because we have 3 small children( all under 6). We have been researching the charter schools and feel a little more confident. Any input about young children and New Orleans? I'm interested in completing my nursing degree at LSU School of Nursing, and think we can give alot to the community while pursuing our goals.

I would be very careful about moving to the city of NO. Though the state has taken over the schools and is experimenting with charter schools, there is a long history of corruption and neglect with regards to the schools. Plus, you have a huge shortage of medical care.

Ummmm....the charter schools are horrible. Just a few weeks ago there was an incidence at one of them where I think more that half the teachers went on strike and didnt show up to school because the old principle left. I would consider private school when they are older but for now if they are under 6 they should be fine with school.
