My husband and I are heading to NO in a few days to check out some homes for sale. I'm already a notorious over packer and was hoping there would be someone out there to shed some light on the weather right now. I don't want to pack everything! Is it cold? Or just light long sleeves and a jacket "cool?

Any help would be appreciated!

Winter weather changes hourly. Today its in the 70s and rainy...and warm. A few days ago it was in the low 40s for highs and cold cold cold cold cold. (And what might seem cool elsewhere can be cold here because of the humidity)

There were Christmases when I ran the a/c and others when I served on paper plates b/c the pipes were frozen and I had no water. Best bet is to check on www.weather.com, or some such site, for up-to-date predictions.

I was in NOLA last year in December and it was cold. I mean cold. The air coming off the river has a chill even on a warmer December day. Dress in layers and if you take only a jacket, maybe consider gloves, a scarf, and a hat/cap, if it is windy.

Have fun. I always loved the city in December.

Just be prepared for w.e. It'll be cold and wet one day, warm and muggy the mext, and freezing the night after. Last winter seemed colder than usual, this one just seems random.

Oh man that bites! I've been carless since last week so I'm sending you much sympathy.

It's supposed to get cooler this week, (50s), so bring a jacket.

I have to say that in N.O. when it is 42, humidity about 80%, with the wind blowing, I felt much colder than in snow when it is about 25 degrees. That humidity in the cold wind cuts me to the bone.
