"The City aims to stem the loss of middle-income housing at Hunters Point South
ƒ The site will include up to 5,000 units of housing, 60 percent of the units will be affordable to middle income families
ƒ Affordable units are targeted to households with incomes between 80% and 165% of the HUD Income Limit*, roughly $55,000 - $158,000 for family of four
ƒ Units will be included at a range of income tiers including 80%, 130% and 165%
ƒ Adjustments to household size broadens affordability range, for example:
– A one-person household earning $36,800 would qualify for a studio
– A two-person household earning $46,000 would qualify for a one-bedroom unit
– A three-person household earning $55,300 would qualify for a two-bedroom unit"
They have a website now with lots of info. HuntersPointLiving.com
Looks like these "affordable" apartments won't be affordable after all. Rents for a 2 bedroom start at $2400 and go up to like $3300. Ridiculous!!!
Not even the middle class can afford that. So sad.

120K is around 2600.00 after taxes every 2 weeks. Nobody wants to pay rent and have 200.00 bucks left over to survive for 2 weeks before their next paycheck rolls in.
120K means nothing anymore in NYC like it did in the 1980's. 300K is the new 120K of 2014 and for this entire decade for that matter.
If you make 120K and pay the 743.00 for the 3 bedroom then you have the best deal on this planet.
Oh..and good luck to everyone who is applying tomorrow.
