Hey everyone, for those that have dealt with breaking ground. How is their selection process. I was approved back on July 30. I was waiting for unit assignments. They ran my credit and assigned the wrong size unit to my file. Now they are saying that I have 13 people in front of me before they can assign me a 1 br unit. They only have 4 1br in my ami. They said they assign units by size and log number. How true is that? They said they only assigned studios in my Ami. That they haven’t assigned 1 br. Isn’t it supposed to go by log number regardless of size? Any suggestions on what to do. They said it will take about a month before the can tell if those 13 people qualify or not so they can give me the unit. Should I contact HPD?
does anyone know what happens when you're a municipal employee and the municipal preference gets filled ? do you still qualify for the general population?

Hi everyone! I have a question...I applied for my husband and I in 2014 and we had an interview several weeks ago. We were told to be patient, that the chances are high and that they'll get back to us in 4-6 weeks. The thing is that I applied for us as a family but, unfortunately, our relationship is over and we are thinking of getting a divorce. In case if we will be approved for this apartment as a family, will I be able to live there? My husband is ok with the fact that I'll live there for the first two years and he'll stay in the apartment that we're renting right now. Thank you in advance for your input, its greatly appreciated.

Magically, right after the interview you guys decided to get a divorce? Lol affordable housing is such a scam.

I don't know what's funny about that. I find it pretty sad. We are separated for the last 10 months and I received an invitation for an interview 5-6 months ago. My question is if I can live there being divorced from my husband.
Are you legally separated? If so, you’d have a chance. Would you qualify for the unit on your own?
But another problem is that if you are approved as a family, the apartment has to be the primary residence for all of you. So you couldn’t get approved as a couple and have him stay behind, in the apartment you’re now in.

Thank you so much for your quick reply.
We are not legally separated. During our first interview we told her that we don't live together and she said that if we are legally separated then my husband can apply without me for studio not for the one-bedroom. It was many months ago and we decided to apply as a couple because we didn't know if family therapy will help us or not.
I don't qualify for this unit on my own because I am a student and don't have income.
My husband keeps telling me that it's not a big deal and no-one will check who is living there and who is not...
