Hello,

If I’m selected for unit, and I am waitlisted, but my household size changes once they reach me.
Would they make me eligible for a 1 bedroom vs two bedroom?

Your household is evaluated at the time you are contacted for documents, including number of people and income. If there are units available that you meet the requirements for, you should move forward and be processed for that unit. If you qualify for multiple sizes and/or AMI brackets and both types are available at that time, you are supposed to be given a choice.

Right, so once they get to you for processing, you'll have to prove your household size and income. Then they should offer you a choice of available units that you and your household qualify for, even if these are 2 different AMIs/sizes, and you should be able to choose.

In the event say, only 1brs are available, that is what you will be offered. You may have to take it or leave it, our you can ask if you can stay on a waitlist for the 2br. The agencies operate differently but there is no harm in asking for what yuo'd prefer when it gets to that point. Good luck!

Just to be clear, if the household size changes larger or smaller, that typically means the qualifications for Income shifts up or down. Although, the Income qualifications will shift with the change in household size it does not necessarily change the AMI% for the household but an AMI% is a possibility. When documents are requested, the circumstances of income and household size will be reviewed, if enough time passes such as 120 days, new fresh documents might be requested and reviewed.

What your household size and income was when you first entered the lottery way back when is less relevant to what they are when an offer is being prepared for your log#.

I suppose, if they only have vacancies for smaller units, and a person now wants larger they might be allowed to maintain their smaller household on paper and only take occupancy with one or two people. For example, the children go live with grandparents or whatever, while the parents take the studio.

Moving targets.
