That's great to know. I'm not CB preference but I have a low log# 5,XXX so I'm praying that I get called for an interview.

Awesome - thanks for that update!

Do you mind me asking what your AMI % is, and what type of unit you are looking for?

I ask because I wonder if they qualify the same amount of people, for the same amount of units they have... Or if they interview more people than the amount of apartments they have available..

I qualify for a 1 bed or studio and my AMI is 100%. CB preference, but there are only 3 studios, and probably only 3 1 beds... 6 in total..
Ugh the wait hurts!

If any one has any insight, that would be great!

Good luck, All!

My paperwork is as prepared as it can possibly be and the wait is killing me.

Also, are the odds of getting a place even still realistic at this point if they started interviewing people in May, or is there a wait list in my future? I'm up for a studio or 1BR in band 3 (100% AMI), where there are 3 studios and 6 1BRs available. Thanks and good luck everyone!
Yes I am similar bracket to you! Looking for same type of unit.

Also wondering the same about apartments. And if they have over qualified a higher amount of people than apartments they have available.

Sorry to add to anxiety...

Guess we will all find out soon

I'm in the same AMI bracket as you, but remember they still calculate your income, fine-toothed comb your application, etc. so anything can happen. I'm just glad this part is over and I did what I could. There's nothing I can do until I hear from them re: my application submission in a month or so.

Also for our AMI bracket, I understood the availability for 1-bedrooms to be: 6 units for 1-person or 2-people sized families in those income brackets, not 3 units for 1-person and 3 units for 2-people... So if there are 6 families of 2-people who fit into that bracket (with all other qualifications), and all 6 choose the 1-bedroom, then that's it. If we want the 1-bedroom, then we'd be waitlisted until one of those 6 families move out, or we could choose the studio if that's available. Did anyone else interpret it this way or differently?

And your other comment: "Also wondering the same about apartments. And if they have over qualified a higher amount of people than apartments they have available."

I didn't ask that question, so it's a good question to ask when you go to your interview.

Been lurking here forever and since I finally went to my 1st interview thought I'd share my expierence.

So today I went in for my intake interview. I live within CB 8 and have a log # in the mid 2000s. Also work for the city . Interviewed at 1 metrotech & interviewed with this nice gentleman . So apparently its still quite early in the process. The guy told me the building is about 50% finished. I have to get 2 additional documents. Because I moved and started a new job within the last 12 months , I have to bring in letter from my old job stating I no longer work there. Also rent receipts from July - December of last year. The guy told me after I bring those documents in, they will submit it to the housing board within 2 weeks. Nothing will be communicated until September , unless there is some sort of discrepancy. Around September he said a decision will be communicated either way. Assuming all goes well , he said the CB & other preferences would be in first probably around November/December ish.

Thanks for the info! I had my interview this week as well so good luck to you! This waiting process though is going to be so nerve wrecking! did they do a background check/ credit check on you?

Hi everyone, my interview was also a nice experience, and I had everything so I don't have to bring any additional information. I asked how many people they're interviewing for 1-person households in the 100% AMI range and she said around 80-100, so the odds are about 1 in 10 (assuming everyone qualifies, which of course some people won't). (This strikes me as a ridiculously high number!)

I was told that we might not hear any updates either way for 2-9 months(!!), so I'm encouraged that some of you got the sense that it would be quicker. In fact, some of the info she gave me re: the timeline was a little contradictory; she told me we might not hear a peep for up to 9 months, but also told me they want to start moving people in by the end of 2017/January 2018, so 5-6 months.

Here's the process from here, as she laid it out for me: 10 weeks after your interview, you can start reaching out to them to ask for updates. If they say your application is "still in progress" and they don't give any other info, this means your file is still sitting in a drawer exactly as it was when you turned it in at your interview and they haven't calculated your income yet. If they say "your income has been calculated" and you haven't been rejected, that means your income qualified but you're still waiting to be moved to the next step (so your application is in another drawer with everyone else whose income qualified). When they're ready to start moving people in, they pull qualified applicants from that second drawer in order of log number and ask them to come in for a second appointment for a TIC (tenant income certification)--this is when they run a credit check and a background check, and when you'll be allowed to see the unit you qualify for. If that all goes well and you accept the terms, you're in! (If your income qualifies but they run out of units, you can be added to the wait list.)

She said they'll probably start calculating people's income by the end of the summer, so that's the point when we'll start to either be rejected or be moved to the next "drawer" and onto the next stage of the process. I think people can expect the TIC appointments to happen in late fall 2017 at the earliest. I got the sense from her that the building construction is taking longer than it was supposed to, so that's going to slow the process down as well.

I hope that's helpful! I asked her to clarify like a thousand times as I frantically scribbled this all down. It makes me feel better to have some idea of where things go from here. If you're reading this and you've interviewed, please keep sharing whatever information you can!

This is definitely 100% how it works.
