There's something extremely shady going on with Ryerson Towers. I just checked the Mitchell Lama waiting list and the one bedroom list just JUMPED all the way up to 998. Over 300 spots! I have been monitoring this list for over 9 years and it barely budges, only a few spots at a time. Sometimes it might jump 20 to 30 spots a year. But never 300 SPOTS!!! This needs to be investigated by HPD and HUD immediately.

An investigation is not going happen unless someone reports to the authorities that there are unusual circumstances going on. I not reporting it.
Jumping 300 places is not typical. However, an older waist list can produce big movements. Consider this example, a waitlist is ten years old. Back in year-one people on the list were interested but over the years some households on the list lost interest because they moved away, their family got too big or too small for the lottery. They changed addresses, email address, tel # and never updated the building.
There is no pre screening to enter the lottery. This can mean people on the waitlist that aren’t qualified. For co-ops, some people might not be able to get financing for the purchase price..
COVID has changed circumstances for people. Some don’t need or desire to be as near their jobs or the city as much as before.
There seems to be more activity on the ML waitlists than in the recent past.

Besides what WAH said, if it is the Mitchell Lama Connect site that you are checking on then the development may not have been updating there for awhile - I am on a different ML list, last I called them a few months back they were up to #78 on the list, but on ML Connect they are still showing #49 from 2019.
is there any one familiar with the process for finding out the waiting list for Ryerson Towers. Brooklyn ny ? i called New bedford management 2 x's the information that i was given does not reflect what the website shows. for example... when i called i left a message about the numbers then they call back and just give what number they are up to. this happen to me 2x June & yesterday. the website for 1 bdrm shows 9XX. and i was told they are up to 6xx. is this Normal??? any insite would be appreciated, thanks.

Hi Carol, I found out that the big jump in numbers was because of a Veteran's preference, that is their number (at the end of the list). Veteran's get to skip the line and are put first ahead of everyone else. The regular numbers should revert back to their regular count once the veteran is out of the way and received housing. At the rate the list is moving, it'll be a very long wait for us all!

From same source quoted.
(Four+, and Studio are “NA”. I used to think that meant no units of those sizes exist. Which might be true, but one day I saw an exception for at least one building. I don’t recall which building.)
