CONGRATS!!! I did see a few people moving in over the weekend (eventhough they told me you can only do so M-F smh) anyways YES as a co-op owner we are required to get insurance (renters insurance for Co-ops) as mentioned above. I've choose state farm and inexpensive.
But is anyone who has moved in having trouble with ConEd? Was the meter number you were given valid? I still don't have an account, but I do have electricity
I wasn't given a meter number. I just called and told them the apartment number and they said it was fine. Were the suppose to provide a meter number? (My welcome packet got packed by the movers). Looks like I will be up tonight digging through boxes.
I work for an insurance company so I am going to call them first and see what I get with my discount lol.
Downtown BX - Trust and believe I am getting it today. I work for an insurance company and trust me I know all the crazy that happens when you don't have it and don't have the right type.

Good Luck and smart move on your part. See ya when we get a closing date.
@mrshavok, Just call the building manager and request the meter number if there is any problem. Most of the renters didn't convert to their own electricity until about a month of moving in so I'm sure you'll be fine. I have renters insurance as well.. God forbid the sprinkler system goes off.. **knocks on wood** I'm sure not trying to pay for all new furniture!!!
@lcouncil...I've been stalking the mgt office lol, I was advised they are having a ConEd rep come out to do an accurate meter reading and to provide me w/the number. Altho it will be a month since I moved next week so its a lil odd. And I feel the same way about EVERYTHING in my apt so insurance was a MUST it was mandatory neway. But I also know those smoke detectors are SUPER sensative my neighbors gonna think i can't cook my alarm goes off so much lol that's until I started turning on the vent duh ...but thanks for info.
Unfortunately, I have to open all my windows when I'm frying something.. (vent and all..) No need to have my boys straining their tiny arms by swapping a broom stick by the fire detector so it can stop.. lol
No problem
i have an interview this week for an apartment rental and i am a little nervous due to my credit. If the renters dont mind answering how was your credit? mine isnt horrible but its not GREAT. CONGRATS to all who have moved in and will move in. I have been enjoying reading all of the post and God willing I will be moving in as well.
I have a low credit score but was still accepted. But I paid off EVERYTHING that was on my credit report so although I have a low credit score, I have no debt. So they don't go off of your credit score but off of your debt-to-income ratio. I'm sure they must have some other type of criteria but that's all I remember from when I asked my interviewer. Although I spent my entire income tax paying off college debt and other bills, it was worth it because now I am FINALLY able to apply for a damn credit card to actually build my credit score!! Hope this helps.. Good Luck!!!

Reason: grammar
@Lcouncil Thank you so much! I think I'll be okay. How long from your interview where you told you were approved ?
