Hello I am a Brooklynite and was selected for an apartment lottery for Central Harlem. I came in for the initial interview process and I gave them all documentation. The hardest one to retrieve was my income verification.

My income was within the bracket although I was told that they increased the income, but I was still qualified. I went in for my TIC (tenant income certification) appointment and I am not sure how long it will take in order to receive an approval.

I am already assigned a unit so I'm worried about how it will take.

If I am assigned a unit, does that technically mean that I've gotten the apartment

How long will it take for me to receive an approval?

Default Central Harlem

Hey, I'm in the same boat as you, I've already been assigned a unit but haven't heard back from them. During my first interview, the lady briefly mentioned that they have 21 units that they needed to fill by July 1st. I emailed the lady that I last submitted documents to and haven't heard back. Hopefully, We get a favorable response soon.

Wow 21 units?

I'm hoping that I'm one of them I've already signed the TIC forms and she said I was one of 9 people listed. The suspense is killing me.

Are you waiting for 418? I passed by there last Saturday and it looks like they are still working on the bldg. I've tried checking online to see if a certificate of occupancy has been issued but haven't found anything. I literally check my email every 20 mins hoping for news.

I'm actually waiting for which ever building I can get into. I really want the 116-118 on west 129th street.

Default Update

They are currently doing interviews for the disabled applicants so it may be a while until they send out for the general population.

I guess I shouldn't be worried since credit and background check has been done for me and my file has a unit number.
HPD overlooks your file and tax returns and income to make sure if you're eligible for the apartment.

HPD takes about 5 to 2 weeks for approval, according to stories i've seen.
