Politicians have discovered that they cannot take for granted that they can tax and spend frivolously because the revenue stream is never ending.
Do you think more businesses will embrace telecommuting after this (thus reducing the need for actual office space)?
Will more people continue online ordering instead of going to the store thus reducing the need for large brick and mortar and shifting to warehouses to fulfill online order?
Will NYC politicians become more fiscally conservative on balancing the budget and using excessive money on 'pork' pet project.
A few months ago they were spending like there is no tomorrow. Demanding billions for NYCHA, hundreds of millions on various 'immigrant rights' projects and criminal justice reform. Spending millions in renovating parks and planting trees.
Now they are crying poverty.
All these initiatives could have been accomplished at 1/3 of the cost of the money requested.
