I’m new here. I’ve been contacted by iaffordnyc for three developments I applied for on housing connect in the span of the past three days. I have submitted my documents. They are middle income apartments with 1 or 2 to 6 available. They are small buildings, but offer luxury amenities. At first I thought it was a hoax, but each of them have the same log number given to me on housing connect. Is anyone familiar with this agency?
They seem to be a marketing agency that developers can hire to fill the affordable apartments. Other agencies are Breaking Ground and Housing Partnership.
Did you have low log numbers for all three? Or are you in a preference group? It is a bit odd to be contacted for three lotteries in three days by the same agency. Are you in a high bracket, say 130% or 165%?
I have high log numbers for all three, however these are the middle income lotteries, I meet the quota and I am a municipal employee, maybe that is the difference. I’ve gotten a lot of rejection letters in the past, so I’ll take it with no complaints. The rent on them are definitely not low though ranging from 1850-2000. And all 1 bedrooms.
Well, I know there are only 6 apartments available in some others 2 or 3 even says 1. But that is normal for the middle income lotteries. I get discouraged at those numbers, but we never know how it’s counted. I just apply to everything and let the powers that be tell me no. I just wanted to know what others experience was through the process. I’ve been homeless for a year now. I put in for everything.
I got called and viewed the apartment located at 1603 Lincoln place. I didn't liked it tho. The studios are too small, it is like a big room with a tiny kitchen, and a bathroom, felt like box and they wanted 1625 I believe. For the one bedroom they wanted 1700. Not for me. My log number was in the 43x. Good Luck.
I went to that “open house” as well. Cons: walk up, only one 1bedroom , the studios were so small with hardly any storage space, none of the kitchens have backsplash tiles, apartments were not in move in condition, and 2 of the studios had black mold growing as well as a hallway, rent was high for the neighborhood. Pros: the only one bedroom was a nice sized apartment, gym + laundry (sister building and were not available to be viewed during the open house) , rooftop access and possibly backyard access, dishwasher, ice maker in fridge, seemed like a quiet side street. My log number is is 5xx.

I have an open house tomorrow at 171 linden boulevard trying to decide now if I should go. They boast a One bedroom for 1900. The neighborhood doesn’t have the best reviews either, but when you’ve been homeless so long, you begin to become desperate. I don’t want to turn down anything. I have two more I’m in the running for, I just don’t want to play the fool either.
One building is 171 linden boulevard one is 210 Parkville and one is 209-213 Troy Ave and the rents are VERY EXPENSIVE
