I know theyre slowly but surely rolling them out and with the pandemic and everything everything is at a stand still but stiilllll ? i got when i made over some of the requirements but i dont qualify for anything now ? and i know im in a better situation than most financially so i can only imagine for others.
idk if im being impatient or not but i just needed to get that off my chest haha
It has nothing to do with Housing Connect 1 or the new Housing Connect.
What you are seeing is the city losing ground, with developers taking the upper hand.
Developers are greedy and NYC doesn't have much to offer them as incentives except for tax breaks. So the city, desperate for housing it can call "affordable," even though it's far from that, has little or no leverage.
Therefore the developers ignore the lower income brackets and can get get away with it.
But the pandemic may be changing the real estate landscape. People able to work from home have headed for the suburbs and farther out. Empty office buildings may have to be converted to housing. Maybe rents in NYC will come down, at least in some neighborhoods.

It's a valid observation, though. At this moment there are 22 projects in Brooklyn on the website, of which 20 start in 130%AMI , one - 40%AMI, one - 60%AMI.
Yeah I noticed that too. For one 90% of the projects are in Brooklyn. I love Brooklyn but where is the diversity. Secondly the rent for most of these is over $2000 so again how is this “ affordable housing “ and it sucks because the new projects on 2.0 look really nice !
I have not applied to any of the developments on the new site yet. I refuse to pay over $2000 for a studio or even a one bedroom when it's supposed to be affordable. It's disheartening, but I'm hopeful that it will get better.

Yeah I definitely feel you on that one. It seems like developers have lost the whole meaning of affordable.
