So because a person qualifies for an "Affordable housing" unit which is the same as market rate prices at times, actually more than market on some apartments they should not have an opinion on how they live? You tell me what person in there right mind is going to spend $2500 monthly on a shoebox apartment in which you can ONLY fit a twin size bed (if you're lucky) in? It's because of people like you that settle for anything that these developers feel it's okay to build like that.

Actually, that’s not 100% true. I’ve looked at market rate apartments and many are all just as small as the lottery ones are. The ones that are not small are old construction- meaning built in the 1990s and maybe early 2000s but everything after 2005 is very small. I don’t know why this is but it looks like policies on construction have changed. SMH.

I honestly don't think that they build small apartments specifically for the lotteries. The living pattern changes, the development business follows. If people are fine with renting smaller studios and more readily take advantage of a building's amenities, there's nothing wrong with that. This was about the market rates.

Now, that the city falsely presents the availability of 130%+ ami units as "affordable" housing program, this is very wrong. I don't know who are they trying to fool. How is it affordable if making 100% of ami one can't afford it? Then let's change the name to "aspirational housing lotteries".

That wasn’t my point, my point was looking at market rate instead of lottery you will have a better shot at choosing a bigger apartment. Lottery apartments are a shot in the dark u don’t really get to choose based in n size and other things only what you qualify for and based on who calls you.

Yes, I know, I was just pointing out how new construction has gotten worse with small apartments. Seems to me that developers want to squeeze as many people into one building to make the most money - lottery or not. I think it's pathetic.
