Got selected for a housing connect apartment with a log number of 7xx. Thinking about withdrawing my application and moving forward with my Broker because the process is way too long. Thoughts?
It depends on how urgent/soon you will need this housing. If you still have time to wait & you like the building of the lottery that you got contacted, why not pursuing it?
Is it a good building in an area you want to live in? Could you match it on the open market? Would your financial situation stand up to scrutiny, that is, you don't have cash income, you don't have an ex-spouse that you're not really divorced from, etc.?
Are you looking to stay long term? If it's important to you have future affordability, could your broker find you a rent-stabilized apartment?

It’s a little urgent but reading these threads I’m getting a little discouraged because considering preferences and everything else they might not reach out to me and i will get waitlisted waiting on them. I’m so frustrated i want to get out the toxic environment I’m at now and I’m getting government assistance

You right about finding a rent stabilized apartment. I may have to ask him that and no not recently divorced full time worker but i got a housing subsidy for now
I generally advise people to carry on as if they weren't getting the apartment. Too many ways you might end up not being selected. If your housing assistance is short-term that's another reason to be looking now.
I'm confused. Have you been contacted to submit documents? If so, you have a good chance of getting a unit if you qualify. Marketing companies don't contact people and make work for themselves for no reason.
Which building is it? That said, is this a lottery that just closed? Or it is one that might be filling random vacant apartments, years after the lottery? Without knowing which building we're talking about, we're in the dark.
That's a good question. My advice changes slightly for those who've submitted documents. If so, I still think you shouldn't base your life on it, but if getting out of your current situation is urgent, you might think about looking on the market.

I agree. Lottery is nice if you win but depending on the urgency, a lottery will drive your anxiety insane.
