Is it normal to be given one day to decide if you want the apartment or not after the showing? Seems so rushed. 130% AMI if that matters. Thanks!

Usually 5 business days. If you don’t select within that allotted timeframe then they may reject you and move on.

1 day is odd. Doesn’t sound right.

This is with Reside, if that matters. Technically two days. Saw the apt on Saturday, they want a decision Monday.

I see. Well if you want the unit might as well just make the decision.

At least you had the chance to sleep on it.

It's not unusual - they usually do push for a quick decision. But nothing is ever final final til your signature is on the lease.

Does the NYC Dept. of Housing Preservation and Development MARKETING HANDBOOK apply to this unit? I don’t know.

It’s seventy of so pages. Table of contents. I don’t see an index.

It seems unlikely the City would approved of such a policy, but in this particular case I don’t know if it’s the City’s call. Perhaps it’s just a pressure tactic to get a decision out of people quickly.

There is too much interest in these apartments for these marking agents to sit around and wait for people to make up their minds about pursuing a unit (regardless of your log number). I have seen a few affordable units and I feel that the next day or better a Saturday to Monday is more that enough time. I knew right away which ones I didn’t want and the one I wanted I emailed my preference layout right away.
Reside NY prides themselves on being fast and efficient… they don’t play around or waste time. I liked dealing with them.
