One of my coworkers received a mini lottery (ML) email for her to submit documents and she’s very excited but asked a question I don’t know about since I have no experience with mini lotteries:

Basically, she was asked to submit documents for a luxury building in LIC, and looked up the apartment on StreetEasy and loved it. Anyway, she is surprised because her log number is 10,xxx and can’t believe the managing agent contacted her through housing connect to submit documents. She thinks her log number is too high but I think that if they contacted her, as long as her documentation shows her eligibility, she should be ok. What do you guys think? Does a log number matter after you’ve been asked to submit documents? Does it mean that in her case, 10k people rejected or didn’t qualify? She’s in 130 ami for that mini lottery if this information helps.

Submit the documents that means they reached her LOG number for processing documents. Tell your friend don’t waste a second with these Marketing Agents. Make sure all documents are updated. What these Marketing Agents do is process applications in batches she might not be the only applicant being asked to submit documents.

I've been asked to submit documents for (so so many) re-rentals/mini-lotteries with high log #s as well. Definitely don't sleep on it if interested.

She showed me the apartment and it’s really gorgeous. It’s a 2 bedroom with a corner column and views to the city. I wondered myself how she can be number 10k+ and be asked to submit documents. That’s amazing.

There’s no need to wonder they process people in batches. I mentioned this on a different Forum but this is how it works. When you get selected to submit documents it doesn’t mean anything until your signing a lease. These Marketing Agents process everyone in batches and must assign a status to each applicant before moving on to the next batch. Your friends log number was reached meaning she was apart of that batch of applicants getting asked to submit documents. I also mentioned on a different Forum how LOG numbers that are low are great but it truly doesn’t mean anything that’s just your place in line for the housing you applied to. What it boils down to is your income, household and preferences. That’s what determines if you qualify for the unit you applied to. It’s really down to the numbers this isn’t a “lottery” like HPD likes to claim.
