I’m being told 2 different stories from HPD. One says that if you do not qualify for a lottery once log numbers are assigned you will immediately be given an ineligibility notification on your dashboard (no email or letter). The other says that you can apply to lottery you don’t (possibly yet) qualify for and you won’t be deemed ineligible until they get to your log number for processing.

I thought you are can have a log number and not be deemed ineligible until they hit your log number. Anyone know the truth?

Essentially what I’d like to know is if you’re given an ineligible determination, does that mean they technically got to your log # for processing?

Yes. They will skip right by it and go to the next person.
If you open the housing connect site, it tells you on a top blue banner to update your household profile and information so that your application can be fully considered.

You may be one of the fortunate ones to get considered even though you don’t appear to be eligible, but due to high demand and in some cases, even prime area popularity, most likely your application will be bypassed if you do not meet the initial qualifications.

How is it that after you updated your household and it says completed the message still pops up?
Is it the same for anybody else

I think it’s a system message in general for the housing connect site because even when am not log in, it’s there, so i think it’s just a reminder overall for the site

That might be so. However, you can’t assume that means you very near to obtaining a unit. If you had a very low log# that would be different. In other word, just because your log # has been reached does not mean others ahead of you have been eliminated or quit the lottery.

Jus guessing, I suppose you can appeal on grounds that you might not qualify today but when the units are awarded you will. Your family size is about to increase with a birth or an adoption; your income in the past was very high/low for irregular reasons, and such like.

On two ocassions, I had “Ineligible” on my dashboard before log # were even posted. One should have a chance to appeal ineligibility so I would expect a notice sent ehen your log # is actually reached, dashboard status must be auto-generated
