I am in a process of submitting the requested documents for one of the lotteries. They are asking for my current lease. Does anyone have any experience if they actually contact your building management company to verify your lease? Thank you

They do in some cases but what they’re really looking for is that you have paid your rent for the last 12 months. You may have to produce bank statements which indicate a transfer of timely payments to the landlord indicated on the lease which also corresponds with the amount of rent.
They also want to make sure you live in NYC but that you can do with a utility bill. Alternatively, you can also request they do a credit check to substitute the lease problem.

Thank you. I would be breaking my lease and my management company is super strict so I wouldn’t want them to know anything before I get approved.

Isn’t it that a credit check substitutes the 12 months of rent proof, NOT the lease? Meaning, regardless of whether you choose the credit check or 12 months of payments, you will still need a copy of the lease or notarized letter to prove where you live…?

@CityWorker4 Yup, i think you are right; regardless they ask for current lease. The option is either 12 months rent payment proof or credit check. At least that's what was asked of me.

Yes, but that's why they ask for a utility bill. A utility bill definitely proves where you live.
