Log number xx, no preferences

An agent reached out to me a couple of days ago, was super responsive and said they would let me know "asap" and throughout multiple emails kept saying they would update me the following day. I still haven't heard anything and I'm wondering why they were so confident they'd have an answer right away. Do you usually hear back if you're rejected or is ghosting typical? I'm wondering if I'll hear back at all.

Are you sure you're dealing with a bona fide agency? Is this through Housing Connect?

Is this for a new development or a re-rental? For re-rentals and for some hard-to-fill brackets, such as 130% and 165%, the city uses some private marketing agencies. Not that they are dishonest, but they tend to be more Wild West in nature.

From the way you described your interaction, it seems to me you might be dealing with one of these agencies.

Does the building have a separate thread here? If so, you can see what others’ experiences have been.

It's for a new development, I found a thread with the building but it hasn't been updated yet. I wonder what the process is for new developments and whether that means things move more fast?

If it's a new development you'll most likely receive the request for documents via the nyc housing site. It's okay to reach out to the management agency for reassurance if you don't trust that email receive.

I definitely trust the email, it's through housing connect and the agent who reached out is also listed on the housing connect website for my application. I'm just wondering when I'll hear back and why they were so confident they'd have an update for me!

If you read through any of these threads, you'll see that it's a very common experience not to hear back quickly.

Well, worst comes to the worst if they find you not eligible, they update your application status to be 'rejected' on HC 2.0. & over there you will find out how to appeal if you think you are eligible. About when you will get the update, these developments do it in batches so it varies but rest assured you won't be ghosted.

Good luck!
