I’ve been seeing a good amount of ppl being called for mini lotteries. Does anyone know how ppl are selected? Is it by CB or is it by random? I know on housing connect you have to change the status to be contacted for re-rentals and I’m assuming that’s part of how the mini lotteries work but was wondering if anyone had a better idea.

Pages 25 and 26 in the handbook might have something to do with mini lotteries. Re marketing, and 4-4 Re-Rentals and Resales.

They are re-rentals but a slightly different process than the re-rentals on the HDC page. The ones on the HDC page have their own processes for getting on the list.

What im getting at is they are random lotteries that we are automatically put into once we agree to being selected for re-rentals on the housing connect website.

I really wish housing connect was more transparent about things.

Mini-lotteries in Housing Connect are used to fill recently vacant units that were previously filled through a traditional lottery on Housing Connect.

In your Housing Connect profile, there is a section called "Housing Choices" in which you can opt into being contacted for newly vacant affordable units or "re-rentals". Under Housing Choices, you can indicate unit size and location preferences.

How it works is when there is a vacant unit available through a mini-lottery the Housing Connect system will automatically generate your name to be contacted if a specific unit matches the criteria indicated in the Housing Choices section and if the income listed in your profile falls within the minimum and maximum income required for the unit.

Visit the "Learn" section in Housing Connect and it gives a quick summary of the Housing Choices section.

If you do NOT want to be contacted about mini-lotteries you can simply opt out of the Housing Choices.

Thank you, I did change my housing connect option to allow me to be contacted for "re-rentals" last year. Guess I haven't been lucky but its good to know the process
