Hi. I'm just curious. Are there any winners with high log numbers and no preference? What are your log numbers?

“ Applicants are usually contacted from 2 to 10 months after the application deadline. ”
High log#s without preferences do sometimes prevail. Each lottery is different. High log#s are very unlikely to prevail in a lottery for one unit, but more likely to prevail in a lottery of 100 units. If a building’s lottery units are small and less desirable for various reasons that would tend to favor high log#s because more applicants will turn down offers. Likewise, if a building has a set aside for the formerly homeless, no disrespect, because there are people that don’t favor that in their building.

All of this and also being in a higher AMI bracket helps a lot. I have been contacted for a buildings with only a handful (3-7 total 1br and only 1-2 by the time I was contacted) units available with numbers in the 6-8k range with a 130% AMI.

Yes I feel like the reason I won the unit I’m in now is because it was a small studio with no w/d (most apartments have w/d in my building). They showed me the other unit left and it was even smaller but had a w/d so I picked the bigger unit with no w/d. My log was in the 27,000’s (no preference) and I had applied in 2018 and they reached my log in 2020 (Pandemic most likely played a part as well). Only thing that was left was the 130 AMI units and I BARELY made the income cut on the lower end. I’m now hoping to win a 1BR unit with w/d now that I make more.
