The increase takes effect June 1st. I wouldn't call that luck. Because now if something happens to the voucher and they're already low-income, how are they supposed to keep up with what the voucher says it will cover? Also, now the only way to get Section 8 in NYC is to have an emergency reason. I wouldn't call misfortune luck. It's gonna end up raising rent in some neighborhoods (not all because of the negative stigma around voucher holders). It seems nice at first glance but it's going to set people up for a bad experience at the end.

I know people that been on section 8 for a long time section 8 will never end and I know people that got luxury apartments with section 8...section 8 isn't mainly low income it's also for people that make decent money but can't afford nyc rents

From what I heard if you’ve been on Section 8 in the past you will stay on it forever they can’t take it away from you. But recently there have not been any. Now they give ppl vouchers for various reasons. One being you were in a shelter they provide vouchers with a certain amount and help you find housing with that voucher. They also provide those to ppl who were in domestic abuse situations vouchers. As for old school plain old section 8 they opened up a waitlist a few years ago but since then they no longer have a waitlist. It’s all vouchers based on different situations.

They just did a state wide section 8 add on last year and it didn’t require any emergency so thousands of ppl recently got section 8 just based on income

And hard-working taxpayers have no idea how unlucky they are to have their future taxes dramatically increased to help pay for all the freebies!! Despite Democrats saying that only those making over $400,000 per year will see tax increases! SAY WHAT, REALLY??? PROMISE???

Quite! I do wish people would realize that corporate tax breaks are the epitome of unrestrained government spending!
