I don't know that you have a choice. If you put in a repair request and specify that you prefer to be there when it's being repaired, most will respect your wishes, however, if it's a leak or something of that nature - you don't really have a choice....

Thank you all for your responses! I double-checked with the building management, who confirmed that the landlord is strict with the lock policy on all their buildings. They do not allow for the locks to be changed or altered. Locks can not be added, and "non-drill" security cameras are not allowed on the outside of the apartment door either.

The front entrance of the building does have security cameras and is a double door fob situation.

Besides getting an in-unit security camera for myself, does anyone else have any tips to share around feeling more secure in the apartment? For clarity, do ALL housing lotteries have this clause?

So when I’m not home, I’m satisfied with my cameras. I actually have two that cover all blind spots as well.

When I am home I’m not so worried about someone intruding bc of my dog lol
