Maybe if you’re in the 130AMI. I know someone who lived in NJ who won a place Brooklyn but they were in the 130AMI.

If you’re below 80AMI I would say very little chance

I keep forgetting, are people who live in NY State but not NYC also at a disadvantage, or is it just out of state people?

Don’t waste your time applying if you’re not a New York City resident.

There are affordable housing lotteries that are limited to NY state residents, and a smaller number were just being a U.S. resident qualifies a person. In those cases, NYC residents have no advantage over out-of-towners that enter those particular lotteries. So, it is not always a waste of time. (Even if it was a waste of time, how much time does it take to click to enter.). Read the details.

Yes, many more lotteries generally favor NYC residents, and some residents within a specific Community Board of a borough.

If we are discussing H1H2 APARTMENTS: ‘Applicants who live in NYC receive a general preference.’ And preference for ‘Residents of Brooklyn Community Board 1 (50%)’

My license shows my old LI address. I had to prove NYC residency to continue for the lottery I won. My understanding is if I couldn’t prove NYC residency, I’d be sent to the back of the line.
