Try to find a mistake they made in calculating your income. For example, if you get paid every two weeks, they need to multiply your paycheck by 26 to get the annual projection. But if you get paid twice a month, they need to multiply by only 24.
Seems like OP is stating they truly are over the income by $500. Income guidelines for these affordable units are very strict. If you were even a penny over you’d be disqualified.
Good question, because they need to send you a disqualifying email that states you have 5 (?) days to appeal. Automatic disqualifications we see on dashboard should be preliminary. I would imagine one receives the message when their log is reached.
If you knew from the jump you were over or under a bracket appealing is pointless now. If your not really over absolutely appeal but if you are then don’t waste your time

So if your profile isn't up to date you'll have to appeal also. Geez
I am not sure how you are expecting to be treated. Tens of thousands of people enter these lotteries. They have to keep the ball rolling.
If your household size grew or shrunk and you didn’t update your profile that could result in a rejection. Not a rejection because you didn’t update but a rejection because your household is not too big/small for the particular unit in question.
So Appeal Already. That’s what appeals are for.
A careful examination of your household income is in order because the margin is so small. You might have miscalculated the income, or maybe they miscalculated. They are not going to spend hours on your original entry to the lottery. Like referee, they make the call; if the coach wants to appeal to the instant reply then they have to ask for it and if not the game continues.
If your appeal fails you will at least learned something. Perhaps, in a future lottery there might be a gross mistake and you get rejected in error you will have had some experience with appeals that might serve you well.
(Keep in mind, the US HUD AMI% limits reset in early Spring.)

“ In 2010, the Department of City Planning estimated that by 2030, we were going to reach a population of 8.8 million people," said Basha Gerhards, senior vice president of planning at the Real Estate Board of New York, or REBNY. "It's 2022. We have hit that benchmark 10 years earlier”
Curious as to what they will look like. They are based off incomes 3 years prior so 2023 will be based off 2020.
