Hi everyone!

It’s my first time applying to the housing lottery and I had a question about owning a property but applying. I currently live in my parent’s home, but they transferred the property to my brother and I. I know that I would be ineligible for a unit if I own a property in NYC, but am I still deemed ineligible if it’s a joint ownership??

I’m pretty sure joint ownership will disqualify you.

If the property is within 100 miles of NYC, you are not eligible for the housing lottery.

Joint ownership is still ownership. Now, if they had waited until after you won a lottery apartment and then transferred ownership, that would have been ok.
