Typically, you are told to sign the lease as is and not make changes. That doesn't stop you from asking though! The worst they can say is no.

Just make sure you sign the lease by the deadline, or get an extension if you need more time, or else you might lose the apartment.

What is the typical timeframe? I wasn't given any deadline. The people I'm working with don't tell me anything, it's like pulling teeth to get the bare minimum information out of them. The lease was drafted 3/3 with lease date 3/15, so I assume my deadline is 3/15?

The landlord is the only person who can tell you what the deadline is. Are you saying the lease starts 3/15?

Yes, the lease states 3/15/23 as the beginning date.

Did they not go over the lease with you before you signed it? If you don’t understand something on a legal document, it would behoove you not to sign anything.
