hey i am new here i don't have many places to go and ask this. I was rejected for a unit that was 15$ over what i would be eligible for and they denied my appeal seconds after showing them proof of income that i can make the 15$ difference! my next step was to file a complaint so hpd goes over the appeal, has anyone filed a complaint with hpd and won back there place before? i provided all the documents , i hope hpd is on my side.

I have filed a complaint and won and got put back in processing. I still haven't gotten the apartment though, still waiting to see what happens.

I'm impressed that you won your complaint! I filed a complaint with HPD a year ago because I was skipped over not rejected and I got nowhere! Glad to hear that others are having a better experience.

This isn't the most searchable site, but we have definitely had stories of people winning appeals before. Don't give up hope!

No, over a year ago and when all our inquiries were ignored we gave up. Decided that between HPD and management, it wasn't worth the hassle.

Was going through the process with my sister but was only asked for my info - then 80% through, was rejected for household composition. I did not file an appeal with the Marketing Agency (BG) but went straight to HPD ( I did this out of anger) but it worked in my favor - all I had to do was provide my sister's lease - she got an apt through the lottery about a month or so before. I was put back in process and yes, I did eventually get the apt.

I have heard alot of people get rejected and once HPD goes over it , the agency changes their tune. These management companies don't like to be complained about, but they should do there job also lol

My file didn't even make it to HPD nor did I go to a viewing , this all happened in the midst of the process. I emailed HPD everything I went through - meaning I was consistently asked to submit docs just for me, not once for my sister.

To be honest, I'd actually forgot she was on the initial application until when I was rejected.
