For the life of me, i can not get a solid answer to this question. I was under the impression that once your number is reached, everything moving forward is about verification and the apartment is almost certainly yours.

However, i spoke in person to the housing connect people today, and the lady told me that even after this point, most people will still not be selected.

Any input?

I’ve submitted docs before and still haven’t landed a lottery apartment. I’ve been trying for 8 years. It’s not yours until you sign a lease.

Remember there could be 80 available apartments and say you are qualified for all 80 but your log number is 100 they normally call numbers in batches and what if the 80 applicants ahead of you got selected then u won’t be chosen even though they had requested documentation from you

Definitely not, absolutely nothing is guaranteed until you sign a lease. Agencies handle things differently and some process applications and move them along in batches in excess of how many apartments are available because many people drop out or are rejected at each step. If they request docs is means at that time they have units available that your household appears to qualify for based on what you have on housing connect and so they are contacting you see if you do really qualify, and if you do, you will be offered a unit IF (the big if) there is one still available when you get that far. Sometimes, by the time you are fully processed, all units are taken by lower logs than you within the AMI and unit size you are eligible for.
