Hey so I have no idea how to work con Edison lol. When I tried to go on and put the address it told me it’s a commercial address and to pay 120 deposit. I’m pretty sure that’s not right since I haven’t even moved in yet

Example:

To whom it may concern,

I “your name”, am writing to inform you I will be moving out “address & unit number” on “move date”. Also, how do I go about receiving my security deposit?

If you have any question, you can respond to this email or I can be reached at “phone number”.

Kind regards,
“Your name”

If you have a live in superintendent, you can also add in your email you will leave the keys with the super OR ask where or who to drop the keys off to.

Since you live in NYCHA and not a privately owned building, I suggest when you speak to someone in person, ask for a document stating they confirm you notified them about the move. I can’t emphasize enough how everyone should have proof they notified someone about their move. Unfortunately, sometimes building owners and management deny being notified. You don’t need the headache of owing rent past your stay in the unit.

For NYCHA You have to go to the management office on the property. If you are not head of household Provide them with a copy of your new lease or utility bill. This must be done before the new cycle of rent starts or they will charge the remaining person on the lease the full amount rent for the next month. If you are head of household it’s a “Move out process” you fill out a “notice of intent to vacate” you’ll have to provide them notice 30 days before your move date or they will charge you until then regardless. Go to management asap. NYCHA wants their 30 days hopefully your management office makes it easy.
