So for lots of lotteries my ami is 100. I wonder if those at 130 or higher income resent those getting the same unit for much less?
Not in this position, but I might feel a certain way if I paid $2500 and my neighbor downstairs paid $1500 for the same one bedroom.

If it makes you (or anyone in 130 AMI) feel any better, lower income AMI apartments in many buildings have different finishes, smaller layouts, worse layouts, worse views than 130 AMI apartments within the same building. That’s how it is in my building. And that’s how it is in several others.

Although it really doesn’t matter. For the person below you paying $1500, they are still paying 1/3 or more of their take gross pay so it’s just as uncomfortable for them to pay that rent as it is for you paying $2500. Let’s just all focus on getting the best arrangement for ourselves and not worry about what others are paying.

In 2018, I won a studio and was paying 2200 while my neighbor had a 2 bedroom and was paying 1422. I didn’t mind because I made enough to leave and go somewhere else if I chose to and for the area I was still getting a bargain.

The example given would be of a very narrow minded person because no matter the AMI%, any person with an affordable housing unit basically has the same policies to thank for getting that housing unit, high or low AMI%.

If a building has market rate tenants they should not get too bitter about paying more than others with affordable housing there because it might be that the building would not have been built at all without the affordable housing benefits to the developer.

Affordable housing tenants should not get bitter if Market Rate units get better upgrades (fancy new fixture and such) in the years ahead in an effort to attract higher rents. Without the Market Rate tenants the building and its affordable housing portion might not have been built.

I only care when you are a nuisance to other neighbors, smoking and loud music until after 2 in the morning), thankfully I was able to move to better but my neighbors are still stuck with him and he is still a nuisance last I heard.

In my situation those who are paying a lot more than I am are the nuisance. They moved because they were priced out of the market rate post pandemic so what can I say bad behavior come from either end of the income range that is for sure.

Fair enough but I’m speaking about my experience and answering specifically to someone paying less than me. He could have been paying more and my attitude would not change if it was the same behavior. His behavior was so bad management asked if I would testify on their behalf (they took him to court at least two times). NO THANK YOU.

That makes sense. So glad you no longer have to deal with that. Bad neighbors can really make things difficult. Hell bad roommates are just not cool.
