Hello socialworker,

Could I dm you and ask for guidance about an eviction

Go to housing court and file an HP action to force your landlord to make the repairs. You will get a hearing within two weeks possibly sooner since there is a child in the house.

Issue with going to housing court for any reason is such actions are public record and one ends up on dreaded tenant "blacklist".

Yes, one knows that sort of thing in theory has been blacklisted, but so has discrimination against a vast and bewildering array of persons (most recently obese and height challenged), but never the less goes on regardless.

If someone confines future housing searches to affordable/low income lotteries, public housing and so forth none of this matters I suppose. But otherwise private LLs do use background checks that still trawl court records.

Go to housing court, sue the landlord for repairs. If you don’t have the funds to buy an index number, file an application to proceed as a poor person. Tell them you don’t have the funds right now, as you are a new mom on maternity leave. They will help you.
