i'm working on a writing project (fiction) and am hoping to speak with/interview ppl about their journeys with the housing lottery. as someone who has been in the game for years myself (sadly without any luck) it is fascinating to me, and i'm hoping to build some characters who become somewhat obsessed with the scramble for nyc housing. specifically hoping to talk to people born and raised in new york who have had unique expereinces (maybe you got lucky with the lottery really quick, or have been trying and failing for what seems like an unbelieavably long time).
none of this would be 'on the record' (because i'm making fictional characters). but please reply and let me know if you'd be interested. happy to talk however is comfortable for you! skype/phone/email etc

I'm from NY.. born and raised. I won the housing lottery in July 2023 and moved into my luxury apartment in August 2023. Been applying for years, then finally lucked out. Happy to share my experience for this project by direct message.

I'm a transplant, but won the very first lottery I entered - and my log was #1. I then won another lottery to buy a 1-bedroom apartment in Chelsea at Penn South. So if you want to develop a super lucky character, you can model them off me! Though I suspect people would say "no way, that is super unrealistic."
