I just took a new job in midtown, and I will probably be staying in the Greenwich area of Connecticut or at best White Plains. These are the two areas I have singled out. My commuting will be long.

I'm thinking I'll sneak out during lunch and perform an hour's work out close to work. Or early in the morning, I can beat the peak traffic and get to midtown, and get to work after the workout.

Please recommend a gym near the bank of america tower in the ave of the americas. I googlemapped a few gyms like the NYSC club which appears to exist in the vicinity. But any real tips from the people who are living the daily midtown commute life would be much appreciated. I'm hoping to find a place where I can shower after the workout and they provide linens.

The nicest gyms are Equinox and NY Health & Racquet Club, so I'd look for one of those or a private club near your office building since you'll need towel service.

Don't all gyms with showers have towel service? I've only belonged to Crunch and the Y, but both had towels and lockers for going out and about after a workout.

You should tour the facilities of the nearest gyms when you get here. And make sure you go at the times you will be working out to see how crowded they are.

I wish I had enough money to join a gym. I just ride my bike, walk, and lift weights at home. *shrugs*

We walk everywhere and climb subway stairs.

Seriously though a lot of New Yorker's join gyms and work out there. I also see a lot of runners on the jogging paths during the warmer months.

Thanks for the tip. I joined Equinox today on 43rd street. The showering place is neat and they do provide linens.

I got the all access membership which means I can access them anywhere.

I almost paid the 745$ joining fee and he said he could discount it to 125, and that was cool I am not really sure what he thought, but I badly need this gym to get back into my routine, I haven't worked out for 5 days now.

He said whoever referred me will get some perks and some discounts, if they were a current member. If you are one, do let me know.
