Hi,
I am a spanish tourist and i will be in NYC this christmas. I wannna know what could you recommend to do dec 31st...Central Park, BK Bridge, Times Square Ball drop...is my first New Year´s eve in New York.
There will be millions of people all crowded together
no bathroom, temperature will be freezing or maybe even rain.
then you will wait there for hours and hours and hours and hours all huddled together with strangers.
the ball will fall and then these people will leave and go somewhere.....all at the same time.
I would rather eat a bowl of razor blades with gasoline.

I would do the ball drop if the temp is above 0 C. It is one of the true once-in-a-lifetime activities. Of course, it is better if you have friends to talk with, but then again, with people coming from all over, I'm sure you can make friends in the crowd.
I would avoid Times Square at all costs, especially since they've instituted the cattle cages to herd all the tourists into huge squares of bodies pressed shoulder to shoulder. No bathrooms and it's not uncommon for drunks to be relieving themselves right there at your feet.
I would recommend finding a nice cocktail lounge/restaurant someplace in the city and pay the cover charge, check online or pick up a copy of The Village Voice.
Does something happen at midnight on the Brooklyn Bridge? I have never heard of going there for NYE. I guess you could go and stand and be cold...but you can do that at various locations. Same with Central Park

I'll second that! Do it at least once before giving in to the whiners and complainers. Just remember that the police will rope off a fairly large perimeter--usually from 57 to 34 Streets (north-to-south) and 6 to 9 Avenues (east-to-west). You won't be allowed inside that perimeter after a certain hour, and if you leave, you won't be able to get back in.
