Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's 7th Ave.

Any reason why you're so stuck on doing ESB? Top of the Rock is better, and you would kill two birds with one stone.

Is that a walkable distance or do you think I will be hailing a cab?

I walk about 35 blocks a day (one way), so I may not be the best person to ask, but yeah, I think it's pretty easily walkable. Plus, you can walk through Herald Square on the way, which your boyfriend may like to see.

Top of the Rock is in Rockefeller Center, which is across 5th Avenue from St Patrick's....so it's already on your tour route. I like it better than the Empire State Building because you have a great view of the Empire State Building from TOTR. See if you can buy tickets in advance because the lines are long.

And FYI- expect huge crowds everywhere you go. December is one of the busiest month for tourists on top of regular New Yorkers trying to finish their Christmas shopping.

Expect to not finish everything on your list and give yourself a good 45 minutes before your bus leaves to start trying to hail a cab. You are going to be in some very busy areas and it may take 15 minutes to even get a cab.
